Poetry is all around us , whether we know it or not. It ' s in the songs, the comm er c i al s, and the shared stories. We gr e w up with it, we lived it and we continue to l i v e it on a da il y basis . My love of poetry st arted wh en I w as a little boy. Like many children, I found Mother Goose to be great entertainment. The stories allowed my imagination to c a tc h on to something bi g and create a whole world that I would n't have known otherwise. Sad Poetry was my path to adulthood. It allowed me to read what others w en t through a short read, but it allowed my mind to continue digest ing information for hours, if n ot days. As someone who has always been a slow reader, th i s allowed me to take something l o ng e r th a n it took me to read. As a teenager, I start e d to writ e my own poe ms . It allowed me to express myself in ways that I couldn't find in stories or di a rie s. It helped my imagination to stay c
